We invite you to submit your original research to the 2027 INSPIRE International Conference on Spinal Manipulation® (ICSM), organized by the International Spine Research Foundation® (INSPIRE), a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing spinal research and education.
Our aim is to increase awareness of the knowledge base in the field of spinal manipulation and related issues, by fostering an international interdisciplinary gathering of researchers and clinicians with an interest in the field, to advance its understanding, education and collaborations.
ICSM 2027 convenes as part of SpineWeek, the quinquennial congress that brings the world’s leading spine societies together under one roof. Delegates registered under the INSPIRE ICSM membership have access to the full SpineWeek scientific programme, exhibition and social events.

ICSM Research Awards
ICSM research awards sponsored by INSPIRE will be presented at the conference for best papers, totalling $5,000 USD in prizes.

Scope
Categories of research
Original research submissions are sought in the field of spinal manipulation and related topics, in the following categories.
Basic Science
Research using animals, computer models or cadavers, in fields such as anatomy, biochemistry, biomechanics, immunology, neuroscience and physiology.
Diagnosis
Evaluation of diagnostic or analytical methods and instruments relating to spinal manipulation, including diagnostic imaging, outcomes assessment measures, clinical examination, and reliability and validity studies.
Clinical Outcomes
Case reports, case series, cohort studies, clinical trials, retrospective studies and systematic reviews, including symptomatic, objective and functional outcomes related to spinal manipulation.
Education
Educational and professional issues related to spinal manipulation training, competency, evaluation, learning, standards of care, guidelines, best practices and administrative issues.
Special Interest
Epidemiology, sports medicine, exercise, rehabilitation, related therapeutic interventions, special populations (geriatric, paediatric), costs of care, philosophy and related topics.
Techniques
Presentation of new spinal manipulation methods or technique applications.
How to submit
Submission guidelines
All abstracts are submitted through the SpineWeek conference website. Submissions by email or postal mail will not be considered.
Where to submit
Abstracts must be submitted through the SpineWeek submission website: spineweek.org. Only submissions through this site will be considered.
Originality
Only original, previously unpublished research will be considered for presentation. Submissions must not duplicate work that any of the authors have published elsewhere.
Research is not eligible for acceptance if it has been previously presented at another meeting.
Structure
Abstracts must follow general scientific format, with sections dedicated to Introduction, Methods, Results and Conclusions. References are permitted but not compulsory.
Ethics approval
Studies involving human subjects or animals must declare whether IRB or ethics board approval has been granted, and by what institution, or whether the study has been exempted, and by what institution.
Word limit
Abstracts are limited to 600 words maximum. The word count does not include the title or references. Abstracts exceeding the maximum will be truncated.
Deadline
To be considered for presentation at the 2027 INSPIRE ICSM Conference, the abstract must be submitted to the SpineWeek conference website by 15 November 2026 at the latest. No late abstracts will be considered.
After submission
Peer review and presentation
Peer review process
All submissions will be reviewed and scored by the ICSM Scientific Review Committee, blinded to author names and affiliations. The committee consists of scientists with conventional research training and experience in relevant complementary disciplines, selected to represent a wide range of clinical and scientific disciplines.
Abstracts are evaluated for quality using criteria including originality, relevance of hypothesis, completeness, strength of contribution, substantiated evidence, and relevance to the topic of spinal manipulation. Submissions are selected for platform and poster presentation based on the hierarchy of peer review scores.
Notification
Corresponding authors of abstracts selected for presentation will be advised by 15 January 2027. If accepted, an author is required to register for SpineWeek under the INSPIRE ICSM Conference membership prior to the presenter registration deadline of 15 March 2027, and to present the research work at the conference.
Platform presentations
A 15-minute oral presentation of a paper, followed by a panel discussion at the end of the session, moderated by a chair. Presenting authors must register for the conference in order to be included in the programme and proceedings.
Poster presentations
Reports summarizing information using brief written statements and graphic materials, such as graphs, charts, figures and photographs, displayed on a digital poster. Details for poster graphics are given in the letter of acceptance. Digital posters are on display throughout the congress during exhibition hours, and presenting authors are required to attend their poster during specified poster session times.
Proceedings
Accepted abstracts will be published in the 2027 INSPIRE International Conference on Spinal Manipulation proceedings, made available at the time of the conference.
